Kangaroo Island is a very popular destination for tourists because of its pristine beaches, beautiful coastline, natural vegetation and wildlife. Over half of the island has been preserved from clearing of vegetation.  Approximately one third is conserved in National and Conservation Parks including five Wilderness Protection Areas.  No wonder tourists both international and Australian love to visit this special place.

Popular destinations and sites like Seal Bay offer a range of guided walks on the beach close to the basking seals.  Some of the world famous attractions on the island are located in Flinders Chase National Park.  Places like Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch at Cape De couedic where you can view hundreds of New Zealand Fur Seals and of a visit to the limestone formations at Kelly Hill Caves.

                             Just to mention a few

Free of foxes and rabbits, native wildlife has been protected enabling it to thrive in a safe environment.  Many species now almost extinct elsewhere in Australia, are thriving on Kangaroo Island.  The Tammar Wallaby and Glossy Black Cockatoo thrive on the Island and are popular draw cards for many visitors.  Amongst other animals which can be found easily on the Island are; the Brush-tail Possum, Short Beaked Echidna, New Zealand Fur Seal, Australian Sea Lion and the Ferry Penguin are all native on the island.  The Koala, Ring-Tail Possum and Platypus were introduced and still survive today.
